Experience a full day at the beautiful island of Texel and its surrounding UNESCO World Heritage site Waddensea! We will sail to Texel and explore its National Parks, historic villages and beaches. In one of the historic villages we will enjoy a delicious lunch! We will pick you up in Amsterdam in the morning and will bring you back late afternoon. A full day of island experience at one of Holland’s most beautiful islands!

Itinerary
We will pick you up right in the center of Amsterdam early in the morning and drive you through the beautiful Dutch country side: land claimed from the sea, past farms, villages and windmills.

Polders
We will drive through our “Polders”: land claimed from the sea and lakes, a unique part of Dutch heritage. This new farmland is sometimes as low as 6 meters below sea level!

Waddensea UNESCO World Heritage Site
Upon arrival at the harbor, we will board the ship that takes us onto the Waddensea. The Waddensea is the largest unbroken system of intertidal sand and mud flats in the world. It is a refuge for a huge number of animals, including marine mammals such as seals and porpoises. The Waddensea World Heritage area is one of the most important wetlands for waterbirds on earth. The Waddensea is a calm sea with hardly any risk of uncomfortable swell.

Exploring the Island of Texel
We will set sail to the biggest Dutch Wadden island of Texel. On the island, there will be plenty of time to explore the historic villages, the beach and dunes. This island is famous for its incredibly beautiful nature, and is a paradise for bird watchers! We will even get a great view of the Wadden Sea at low tide.

Lunch in a historic village
Half way during the day we will enjoy a lovely lunch in one of the historic villages. Please notify us in advance if you have any dietary requirements. At the end of the afternoon we will set sail for home again, arriving in Amsterdam around 6 PM.

I was visiting Amsterdam from another country and didn't know the... read more city very well outside the main tourist areas so this was easy for me to get to and was close to my hotel.
 
 Eva was a terrific tour guide and she made it completely flexible for what we wanted to get out of the trip. On the day I went on the trip it was only myself and one other guest and she allowed us to tailor it to the specific activities we wanted to do. We started off visiting a lookout point and saw some deer grazing off in the distance. Binoculars were provided so that we could get a closer look. I appreciated that small detail.
 
 My main focus after that was to visit the Kröller-Müller Museum to see the Vincent van Gogh paintings that they own. Several were bucket list items and I want to thank Eva and Dutch Tours for making it a reality that I could come to the national park and visit the museum and to have that moment. I traveled a very long distance to be there so thank you for making that happen for me, it means so much to me.
 
 I spent most of my time in the Kröller-Müller Museum and honestly probably could have spent a few more hours there. It's beautiful, simple, and has an amazing collection of art. I unfortunately didn't have enough time to really explore the sculpture garden grounds but I still got a small taste of it. The other guest on the tour visited the museum as well for a short time and then met Eva to do a bicycle tour around different areas of the park. Again, our experiences were completely flexible to what we wanted to do once we were there. I really appreciated that aspect of the tour.
 
 On our exit, we drove through more areas of the park to see more of it. It's a beautiful area and it was nice to get out of the city for a bit and see more of The Netherlands I would not have been able to otherwise. The three of us got along well and had a great time chatting on the drive back to the city. I'm very thankful Dutch Tours offered this small group tour to the national park and to the Kröller-Müller Museum. I would not have been able to visit it on my own, at least not very easily, so I'm so happy that they offered it and that it still happened even though it was only 2 of us that day.

 The boat trip to see the tidal flats with basking seals was incredible! I see why this is a UNESCO world heritage site. It is a very unique and special place. 
 I highly recommend this trip to anyone with an interest in nature or if you just want a nice day in the beautiful countryside of the Netherlands. Sarah was a great guide and I wouldn't hesitate to book this trip again!
